CO with reference to your Despatch No. 214 of
the 4th. July, 1900, I have the honour to inform you that it
has been found expedient to dispense with the services of Mr.
P. Crisp, Buildings Overseer in the Public Works Department,
and that in accordance with clause 6 of his Agreement his con-
nection with the Government will be severed in 3 months from
the 28th. ultimo, the date upon which notice was given to him.
I regret to inform you that Mr. Crisp has not always given
satisfaction in the execution of his duties, and the Director
of Public Works reports that he has not had the proper training
for an Inspector of Buildings.
I enclose the usual paper of particulars

with reference to the appointment which will shortly become
vacant, and request that the Crown Agents be instructed to
find a suitable successor to Mr. Crisp. I take this opportunity
of pointing out that it is most desirable to obtain the services
of a thoroughly reliable and steady man for this post,
renders its incumbent liable to many temptations.
